Rockies vs Red Sox World Series Matchup

It's being called Rox vs Sox. We prefer to call it Rocktober!

The Rockies took 2 of 3 against Boston in June, scoring big against Beckett and Schilling. But that's hardly meaningful now.

Colorado has won 21 of 22. But that will be 8 days old by the time the World Series starts. The Red Sox are just as hot right now.

Francis vs Beckett in Wednesday's series opener at Fenway Park. Beckett has been unstoppable during the post-season.

Let's look at the field, position by position.

Helton vs Youkilis at 1st base. Youkilis is underrated and he is HOT. At this point in his career, Helton is overrated.

2nd base: Matsui vs Pedroia. Again, Boston has the advantage. Pedroia is another underrated youngster. He's got plenty of all-star games in his future.

Tulowitzki and Lugo at shortstop. Big advantage to the Rockies. Defensively and offensively, Tulowitzki will show the country what Rockies fans have been enjoying all season.

Atkins and Lowell at 3rd. Close call but Lowell is better in the clutch.

Torrealba and Varitek behind the plate. Varitek has the experience but I'll take Torrealba.

Holliday, Hawpe and Taveras in the Rockies outfield. Boston has Ramirez, Ellsbury and Drew. Two very strong outfields. Let's call it even.

At DH, David Ortiz is far better than anyone Colorado could put out there. This gives the Red Sox an extra advantage for their home games at Fenway.

Looking at the pitching staffs, you gotta give the Sox the advantage. Beckett and Schilling are two of the best guys on any team to be starting World Series games.

On paper, it looks like the Red Sox are much better than the Rockies. Truth is the Sox are probably the best team all of baseball. But that don't matter much now.

It's down to a best of seven series. The Rockies have been playing unbeatable baseball. They need to stay focused and not be intimidated. If the Rockies continue playing as they have since mid-September, they can't be beat. With strong defense, solid bullpen and clutch hitting, the Colorado Rockies can win the World Series.

It's ROCKTOBER! ROCK ON!
